Privacy Policy

Last Updated: March 27, 2026

At ViddMate, privacy isn't a feature; it is the entire foundation of our product stack. We do not track, sell, or analyze your browsing data. This document outlines how the minimal data we do collect (for cloud sync and crash reporting) is handled.

1. Zero Telemetry Promise

ViddMate is specifically compiled without the standard tracking libraries included in stock Chromium. We have severed all connections to Google's telemetry servers. Unless you explicitly opt-in to Crash Reports, absolutely no behavioral data leaves your machine.

2. Cloud Synchronization (Supabase)

If you choose to create an account, we store only the data required to synchronize your preferences across devices:

  • Your email address (for authentication via Supabase).
  • A secure hash of your password.
  • Encrypted bookmarks and settings blobs (encrypted client-side before upload).

We do not sync or store your browsing history, downloaded files, or converted media on our servers. All processing (yt-dlp and FFmpeg) occurs entirely on your local filesystem.

3. Third-Party Extensions

ViddMate allows you to install extensions from the Chrome Web Store via our custom CrxInstaller. Please be aware that installing third-party extensions introduces code that we do not control. Those extensions may contain their own telemetry or tracking vectors. We strongly recommend reviewing the privacy policies of any extension before installation.
